Mr McCormack met with Steve Karaitiana, a third-generation showman, and Aaron Pink, a fourth-generation showman, while they were helping set up for the Spring Family Carnival.
Among the concerns put forward was the cost of registering vehicles used to transport their major rides and show-related items particularly during these tough times.
Mr Karaitiana said the Victorian Showman's Guild and the Showman's Guild of Australasia are working with both Mr McCormack and the ALP's Bill Shorten to appeal to the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator to simplify the over mass and over-dimensional permits for the amusement industry.
After sitting idle for five months, the showmen were able to get back to work at the Spring Family Carnival on September 19 and September 20.
The showmen hope they can host more of the carnivals in the region.
