Police were called to a Rankin Street business shortly after 3pm Monday.
Police will allege a 17-year-old boy concealed several items up his shirt and attempted to leave the store without paying.
When confronted by staff members, it is alleged he produced a knife and threatened them before leaving the store.
The 17-year-old was arrested about 11pm that night after allegedly trying to evade police by swimming in Lake Forbes.
He was taken to Parkes Police Station, where he was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon and assault police.
The boy was refused bail to appear before a Childrens Court Tuesday.
