Four talented Forbes soccer players have been selected to play for the Wagga City Wanderers FC in the 2021 National Premier League Capital Football Women competition.

Katie Schulz, Josephine Mckenzie and Lily Browne were selected to play in the Under 13's squad, while Abby Nolan-Hodges was selected for the Seniors - First/Reserve Grade Squad.
Forbes and District Soccer's Doug McKenzie said their selection came after a coach from the Wagga Wanderers attended local soccer clinics hosted in Forbes in October.
Mr Mckenzie said the coach invited the girls to trial for the Wanderers after watching them play during the clinic.
While playing for the Wagga Wanderers they'll face off against teams from Belconnen United FC, Gungahlin United FC, Canberra Croatia FC, Tuggeranong United FC, Canberra Olympic FC, Canberra United Academy and West Canberra Wanderers FC.
The 2021 competition will begin in March and include three premiership rounds (21 matches) plus finals.
Mayor Phyllis Miller OAM said she would like to congratulate Katie, Lilly and Josie on your selection to the Wagga City Wanderers FC side.
"It is absolutely amazing the amount of dedication and tireless effort the committee, and Doug, put into soccer in our town, this is a tribute to you all."
This is not the first time that any of the players have played at a representative level with all four previously playing for the Western NSW Football Club, formerly known as Western NSW Mariners.
The soccer stars played against some of the best players in Sydney teams while playing for the Western NSW Football Club.
While playing for the Wanderers the Forbes locals will come up against some strong competition from the Canberra teams.
Katie Shulz said she's excited to advance her skills and abilities to further her career in soccer.
"I am looking forward to playing with a great group of girls," she said.
For Abby Nolan-Hodges she's most excited about making new friends and learning new skills to help her improve in the future.
"It's a big commitment and there will be very hard training but the coaches seem pretty happy to have me on their team and being apart of their club," Abby said.
Josphine Mckenzie said being selected to play for the Wagga Wanderers is exciting because they get to learn new skills and play with new people.
Prior to 2019, the Wagga City Wanderers competed in the NSW Football State League before moving to Canberra's National Premier League.
