Forbes Jockey Club has been given an additional race meeting for 2020/2021 - and it's all happening at the local track on January 2.

The new year meeting will have full TAB facilities and be televised on the SKY 2 network.

Forbes Jockey Club committee is really hoping for a large holiday crowd as this race meeting - if successful - may be an allocated third meeting in the 2021/2022 racing calendar by Racing NSW.

The club is to be led into the new year by Randal Grayson, who was elected to the role of president at the recent AGM.

About 30 members were in attendance at the meeting and pleased to hear from President John Rennick, who spoke on the success of the club over his many years' involvement.

Announcing he would not seek another term as president, Rennick thanked all the members, sponsors, trainers and Colin Hodges for the promotion of the club in his capacity as Central Districts' race caller. He also gave special mention to Mick Miller for outstanding service.

Randal Grayson was elected the club's new president, with Rennick and Tom Molloy as vice presidents.

Bruce Chandler was returned as treasurer and a new secretary, Ellysa Cunningham, nominated by outgoing secretary Harvey Elliott.

Sponsorships for the day's six races are available, and track manager Tom Molloy track manager has the track looking beautiful.

Tickets will go on sale online through the website 123tix.com and race goers are urged to read all conditions carefully to make sure COVID-19 conditions are complied with.

The club's new president is hoping to make further improvements to this beautiful, historical racecourse where thoroughbred racing has been conducted for over 150 years and looks forward to working with Forbes Shire Council to achieve the results.

The committee is keen to see more horses trained on this magnificent track and encourage successful trainers with city stables to establish a facility in this beautiful shire.

Forbes Jockey Club thank all members of the Forbes community for their continuing support and success of the club and wish them all a very Happy, healthy and safe Christmas and look forward to seeing you on course on the 2 January 2021.
