A man has been refused bail charged with murder after the body of another man was found in Forbes yesterday.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 30-year old man at a home on Farnell Street, Forbes, about 8.45pm.
He was taken to Parkes Police Station where he was charged with murder.
The man was refused bail and appeared in Dubbo Local Court on Sunday 24 January where he was again refused bail to appear in Orange Local Court tomorrow (Monday January 25).
SATURDAY 8:45PM:
Police are investigating after the body of a man was located in Forbes today.
About 4am on Saturday January 23, police were told an unknown male was seen assaulting another man who was lying on the ground of Johnson Street, Forbes.
Two men went to assist when the unknown male fled the scene.
Officers from Central West Police District attended and commenced CPR before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived. Despite efforts to revive him, he died at the scene.
The man has not been formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 40s.
A crime scene has been established which will be examined by forensic officers.
Local detectives, assisted by the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death, which is being treated as suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
