Forbes has wrapped up a week celebrating our region's youth at the Forbes Shire Council's Super Mega Fun Day on Saturday April 24.

The week celebrating our youth saw a variety of fun events and activities hosted in Forbes including Obstacool, movie nights, pedal boats and finished off with the 2021 Youth Week Awards presentation at the Mega Fun Day.
Young people who give their time to charity, sport and the arts have been recognised in this year's Forbes Youth Week Awards.
Forbes Public School's Laura Chudleigh was awarded the highly commended Forbes' Youth Citizenship Award at the ceremony.
Laura was recognised for her sporting achievements in and out of school as well as her fundraising activities.
She is a school captain at Forbes Public School and has shown initiative starting a program to encourage people to recycle bottles to reduce landfill. From this Laura raises money for school events such as their PBL days and donates to charities such as Havannah House.
Local basketball and hockey referee Annika Dukes has been awarded the Sports Volunteer Award.
Annika has a passion for sports and has received numerous awards for her efforts volunteering for local sporting clubs, including the Presidents Award for Forbes Basketball for her ongoing efforts to assist with club duties such as scoring and record-keeping.
Annika also assists with the Forbes Hockey Club where she lends a hand setting up and around the courts, including refereeing duties.
"She has mentored and assisted new and younger players and hopes to pass her passion of sports onto the kids of the Forbes community," the award citation read.
Scarlett Garland was announced the recipient of the Brighter Future Award.
The full-time diesel mechanic apprentice was recognised for her strong commitment, consistent efforts and high level of passion for her work.
Scarlett was also recognised for her commitment to both her TAFE work and school work where she has maintained high levels of achievement.
"This person is an outstanding role model for young people wanting a career in a male dominated industry and has demonstrated her passion and determination to succeed in the field," the award citation read.
