After a tough year for fundraising efforts by local charities, Ronald McDonald House Charities Orange and the Forbes Branch of the Red Cross have received donations from local events.

Forbes Shire Council donated $6117.60 raised from their International Women's Day High Tea and Wear Red day event on March 25 to Ronald McDonald House Charities Orange.
While the Forbes branch of the U3A in partnership with Forbes Shire Council have donated $500 raised from their Senior's Week Variety Concerts to Red Cross, Forbes Branch.
Ronald McDonald House Charities Orange Manager Rebecca Walsh said they would like to thank the Forbes Shire Council and members of the Forbes community for their amazing support.
Ms Walsh said that raising over $6,000 for the charity is phenomenal and will remain local.
"We look forward to continuing the invaluable partnership in supporting families that come to Orange for treatment."
Since the house opened Ronald McDonald House Orange has hosted 79 families for a total of 355 nights, all free of charge.
A range of support services are also provided to families including emergency meals, grocery items, complimentary toiletries and a gift bag of new toys, activities and books for the sick child in hospital.
The Seniors Week Variety Concerts were hosted on Sunday, April 18 by Forbes Shire Council and Forbes U3A.
This year the Seniors Variety Concert was a little different this year with it being split into a morning and afternoon concert.
Entry into one of the concert's was a gold coin donation which raised $500 with all proceeds going to the Forbes Red Cross NSW Branch.
Neil Gilmour from the U3A said the committee wanted to donate the money raised to a local charity and decided to support the Forbes Red Cross NSW Branch.
The Seniors Variety Concert wrapped up a week of celebrations and activities hosted in the "Give It A Go" Seniors Festival. The concert featured local performers including Maz Rees, Martin Rein, Kimberley Ryan, Laurie Norris, Joseph Pereira and Forbes Seniors Singers.
Wilma Hepburn, from Forbes Red Cross, said they want to thank everyone who went to the Variety Concerts and donated money.
Mrs Hepburn said this donation was very much appreciated as they have been unable to fundraise over the last year.
Red Cross helps give comfort and provide every day essentials to someone who has lost everything in flood or fire.
