It could be your entry into a motorsport that's cheap and a lot of fun, says Forbes local David Teale, who's now been racing lawnmowers for a number of years now.
And this June, the Australian Ride On Lawn Mower Racing Association is bringing an event to Forbes.
They'll be hosted at the Forbes Auto Sports Club at Daroobalgie on Sunday, June 13.
"It's very exciting and it's a real family sport," says Teale, who races what was a 30" cut Greenfield which now has an RMX 250 two-stroke motor in it.
"It's just a great bunch of people who like to have fun."
Racing is graded based on both driver ability and the engine capacity. There are lawn mower racing associations that race only with the modified mower engine itself.
AROLMA has three Forbes members - Teale along with Craig Bratton and Craig Bourke - and they're working with the great committee members at Forbes Auto Sports Club to create a mower racing track from the club's flat track.
The club races every month, this month they're in Wodonga, and this is their very first time to bring a meeting to Forbes.
Teale is hoping plenty of locals will come out and catch the action, it'll just be $5 entry for spectators and he says it's a great opportunity to learn more if you'd like to give it a go.
"It's a very cheap motorsport to get in to, and whole families race," he says.
It's very exciting and it's a real family sport, and it's a great bunch of people who like to have fun.

"We have members as young as five and up to about 72."
He and other club members will be available in the lunch break from racing on the day to speak to anyone who's interested in having a look at their racing mowers or finding out how to get started.
"We'll bring all the mowers up and open them up so the public can have a look," he said.
Teale would like to thank Forbes Auto Sports Club and AROLMA for their support, along with Darren Cowan Mobile Welding, Frank Spice, and Joe and Karyn Glennan Transport.
