Four local racers were among 25 drivers who took part in the day of racing.

Sunday was the last chance for local members of Australian Ride-On Lawn Mower Racing Association to get some track time in before the national title in Yamba.

Local racer David Teale said there was a good turnout on the track over the weekend, despite the fact that not all of the local club members could participate.

"We just tried to put on a good show," he said.

Racing is graded based on both driver ability and the engine capacity, with competition categories starting from the juniors.

Three club members; David Teale, Craig Bratton and Craig Burke, along with new rider Zac Buttriss competed across to separate classes.

Mr Teale said that Craig Bratton competed in the A Class, where he claimed fourth place in the final.

While David Teale, Zac Buttriss and Craig Burke competed in the B Class, where the claimed second, third and fourth place respectively in the final.

Mr Teale said they also had a pretty decent turnout off the track as well, with a steady stream of spectators through the gates.

The local drivers had been working on the Forbes track - at the Forbes Auto Sports facility at Daroobalgie and with their support - they've used part of the dirt track to create something that suited the mowers.

Mr Teale said the Forbes Auto Sports Club has done a good job with their track and great facilities.

Modified lawn mower racing is popular in both Queensland and Victoria, and Forbes is central for many of the competitors.

The next major event on the lawn mower racing calendar is the All Australian Mower Racing Championships which will take place on July 9-11 at Yaamba.
