With perfect outdoor sporting weather last Thursday's veterans golf competition was over 18 holes attracting 28 players where two 14 handicap players fighting out the top prize.

Winner on a count-back with 36 points was Warwick Judge from Tony Cogswell. Not only did they top the points chart they are similar in support of golf as being amongst the better volunteers within FGA members.
Not so happy with his game off a 23 handicap was Peter Schofield taking the encouragement award, but he did have to survive a count-back with quite a few players finding the renovated greens a challenge.
Ball sweep winners to 31 points on a count-back, Barry Parker, Ted Morgan, Ralph Baker, Steve Uphill, Barry Shine, Ross Williams and Fonz Melisi.
Nearest the pins - 9th A grade Ted Morgan, B grade John Whatmore, 18th A grade Scott Kirkman, B grade Les Little.
This week's play will again be over 18 holes open from 9.30am to all financial FGA vets. Players are asked to take to the tee on arrival as it is requested that as little time as possible be spent in and around the Pro Shop.
In current covid times groups of two only, masks are mandatory.
Bruce Chandler is making vast improvements with his new Titleist clubs to take out last Tuesday's 12 hole social competition with 27 points off his mid-week revised handicap. Runners-up were Dave Rhodes and Jeff Moon.
Out of a field of 18 players organiser Geoff Drane welcomed and played with resident club professional Adam Demidjuk who played to par for 24 points. The Big GD commented he enjoyed the walk with the gifted pro to pick up a few pointers on all facets of play.
Again all intending to play Tuesday golf are advised they must abide by club rules connected with COVID regulations.
Finally, Geoff and all veteran golfers last week spoke highly in respect to Tom Edols who passed away last week. For those of use who can remember the past when Tom was club president how well it ran and progressed.
In later years Tom enjoyed his time on the course as a player and volunteer. Tom, you will be missed, thanks for all those wonderful memories. Condolences to all his family.
