With pre season training and games about to begin, registrations for the Forbes Junior Cricket are now open and organisers are encouraging kids to sign up.
Forbes Junior Cricket Club's Andrew Glasson said they are confident they will have enough numbers to field teams across all age groups and they are even looking at fielding a female team.
Mr Glasson said hosting a female team will be a first for the Forbes Junior Cricket Association and they are encouraging girls to give cricket a try.
Forbes Junior Cricket Club's Jeff Nicholson said they are encouraging people to sign up to play and are beginning to sort players into teams.
Mr Nicholson said that while they are waiting for Cricket NSW and the state government to release details about when community sport can go ahead they are planning for a good season ahead.
In a later update, Mr Nicholson said they have received some green lights to begin planning dates for this season.
Mr Nicholson said that they still need to speak with members of Parkes Junior Cricket but they are hoping to begin the season on October 16.
The Forbes Junior Cricket Club are also planning to host Master Blasters sessions again on Saturday mornings this year.
Mr Nicholson said these sessions are for kids aged between 4 - 6 years old and aims to teach the game to beginners and help children develop their skills.
Along with planning for the season, Mr Nicholson said they are hoping to host training sessions for players to help them get back into the swing of playing.
Before the season begins, Mr Glasson said they encourage players to go down to the Botanical Gardens and make use of the new turf and updated cricket nets that have been installed thanks to Forbes Shire Council and Forbes Junior Cricket.
