Executive Officer of Ronald McDonald House Charities Orange, Rebecca Walsh said the beautiful donations from the Forbes Scout Hall Group and the CWA are a perfect example of the way country people are looking after country people.
"These beautiful quilts which have been made with so much love are gifted to our families to let them know someone is thinking of them at a very stressful time while their sick child is in hospital.
"The look on the faces of our families is so heart warming as they are always so grateful," Ms Walsh said.
Forbes CWA's Elaine Bright said they were happy to help Ronald McDonald House Charities in Orange with their creations which included quilts, play rugs, knitted fingerless gloves, teddy bears and knitted bags.
Mrs Bright said they first began creating these items after seeing an ad calling for help in early June.
Along with just wanting to help out, Mrs Bright said the CWA members wanted to have a purpose while staying at home during lockdown.
Since Ronald McDonald House Charities in Orange opened its doors, 90 families from Forbes and district have stayed at the house free of charge for a total of 458 nights while their child is receiving specialist care nearby at Orange Hospital.
This equates to a savings in accommodation costs alone of $68,700 for families from Forbes and district.
Families are also provided with emergency meals, complimentary breakfasts each day, a range of pantry items for self-catering and a beautiful gift bag of new toys, clothes, activities and books for the baby, child or adolescent in hospital.
Under-resourced families are provided with fuel and meal vouchers, as well as grocery hampers to help them return home and settle back in.
The house is run by two paid employees supported by a volunteer base of Orange and district residents who have so far contributed 75,138 hours to be part of 24-hour, 365 day a year roster.
