It's great to be back to some form of normality (plus a mask) over the past couple of weeks.

As a result of the COVID-19 restrictions easing, the Lachlan Valley Branch of the National Parks Association is pleased to be back hosting walks.

The group is looking forward to getting out into the thick of the Central West with four walks scheduled in October and November. There is talk of a Christmas party!

The Bumberry Ridge Trail walk at Goobang National Park that was scheduled for this week was cancelled due to the impending wet weather.

Mount Eurow will be the destination for the next walk on Saturday 9 October. I have heard on good authority that there is a good reason for this walk being ranked as 'hard'. Nevertheless, a good challenge for those that are up for it.

This walk is 6km approximately and close to a 300m climb to the Mount Eurow trig. This walk is off-road and rocky.

Peter Cannon is leading the walk at Weddin Mountains on Wednesday, 20 October on the Gully Track. Walkers can meet at Forbes Railway Station at 9am. This is a 6 - 8km medium/hard walk. Please contact Peter on 6866 1225 if you are planning to walk.

On Sunday, 31 October the group are headed to the gorgeous Manna Mountain. Walkers are to meet at the Forbes Railway Station at 9am for a 6 - 8km medium/hard walk also lead by Peter. Don't forget to contact him if you are walking.

To finish off the Spring walks, Bev and Bob Bokeyar will be leading a walk in Back Yamma State Forest on Wednesday, 10 November. Walkers are to meet at Lions Park in Parkes at 9am. Please contact Bev and Bob on 0419 625 031 if you are intending to walk.

All walks are subject to COVID restrictions, there being no adverse RFS fire warnings at the time and no closure of the relevant NP or State Forest.

Please bring enough food and water for the entire day and wear suitable clothing, footwear, hat and sunscreen. A $2 donation per walker is appreciated.
