Hughes was quite happy with their runs, particularly as he had previously said they were two to watch.
"Sometimes you can be lucky."
Mount Hope faced a challenging run in Race 4's Ladbrokes Bet Ticker as the second placed Gulgong Flyer kept pace with him over the 520metres.
Hughes was pretty happy with Mount Hope's performance, saying that while he's got some age on him, he still made it out in front.
"He's been a great dog to own," Hughes said.
This win puts Mount Hope's record to 8 wins, 11 seconds and 5 third placings from 42 starts.
Hughes said Mount Hope will be back at Bathurst next Friday competing in a 621 metre race.
Daisy's Girl proved why she was the favourite in the 307 metre Good Luck Penrith Panthers 1-3 Wins with a win by a comfortable margin in the race.
Hughes said she had a terrific run on the day and she'll make an appearance in a 400 metre race in Dubbo in a couple of weeks.
While she has raced this distance before, Hughes said from memory Daisy's Girl has only covered the distance once where she claimed second place.
This puts Daisy's Girl's record to 3 wins, 6 second places and 1 third place from 11 starts.
Two other Hughes-trained dogs also took to the track on Thursday, with slightly less success.
Meeka's Angel placed fourth in the Congrats Melbourne Demons Gf Win race, while Magic Fury placed second in the Bathurst Rsl Club 1-3 Wins race.
Hughes said Magic Fury had a winning chance to claim first place from the Tania Trappett-trained Death Valley, but was unable to take it.
