Over the almost 40 years that he has been working with the Forbes community Cr Roylance says he has never been so excited as now with all the projects that the council has been working on coming to fruition.
"It's all part of the big picture of making Forbes an attractive place to work, bring up a family and enjoy life," he says.
Running a national business based in Forbes and being born and breed here raising their children and now grandchildren he speaks with a certain level of insight.
"We've got residential development, business development and industrial development," Cr Roylance says, and we are on the cusp of a major increase in all areas.
"Our business community is vibrant, I think every country town has been through tough times with drought and COVID and Forbes has stood out as a very strong community."
He's anticipating a domestic tourist boom and he believes Forbes and the entire central west are well positioned for big influx with our new Visitor Information Centre in the old vintage village being the central attraction.
"Also, the sculpture trail is in its infancy and is destined to be a major attraction in NSW," Cr Roylance.
"Lake Forbes just gets better and better, the green shady surrounds becoming a real drawcard for people from neighboring towns and travelers coming to our beautiful town.
"The lake activation plan that's been put in place in the most recent term has been in the works for a long time and I have been involved since the mid 90's on all aspects of its development.
"The new Camp Street Bridge, fencing around South Circle and solar lights illuminating the walkway around the lake are recent additions during this term and every time I see it, especially at night, it just looks sensational and I'm very proud to say our council will be doing a lot more around to lake foreshore."
Cr Roylance added Forbes Shire Council remains in a strong financial position even as it delivers.
"We constantly hear about councils that are struggling but Forbes shire is in a strong financial position coming in on or below budget annually and are the envy of many councils in NSW," he said.
He's looking forward to the return of community events in the very near future after a couple of years severely impacted by COVID-19.
"I'm getting a lot of encouragement from locals and as far away as Queensland to bring back the National BBQ Championships to Forbes and as president of the riding for the disabled we have a great bunch of people working hard to rekindle RDA Forbes," he said.
Would he encourage others to considered candidacy for Forbes Shire Council as a councilor or at least increasing their awareness and involvement? Absolutely.
"I love it, I enjoy council," he said.
"I'd like everyone to have a say and the more people who get involved the better."
The live streaming of council meetings has made it easier than ever for people to gain insight into the workings of council. But he would also encourage people to become involved in running events in the local community.
Cr Roylance has been married to Debbie for almost 45 years with three boys and four grandchildren all born, bred and educated in Forbes.
Since the 1980's he has been the president of the chamber of commerce and Forbes promotion and development and worked on many council and local committees including Australia day, traffic, home show and quite a few more.
"I remain passionate about the development of Forbes, and I am very proud of how Forbes has developed, and I know I have played a major part in what we see in Forbes today and look forward to the new term of council," he said.
