The start of big school may seem a long way away for the kindergarten class of 2022, but schools in Forbes have begun getting students ready for their first year of big school.
Forbes Public School and St Laurence's Parish School have shared some photos and few comments about their kindergarten transition programs with the Advocate.
Forbes Public School has welcomed 45 pre-school students through their gates from October 5 for their Kinder Start program.
This program, which runs for five weeks until November 17 gives the kids a chance to get used to big school.
Forbes Public School's Joshua Avis said they are excited to welcome the students to the school, with eighteen new families joining the Forbes Public School community.
While the students are taking part in the Kinder Start program they will participate in a range of activities.
Mr Avis said these activities include art and craft, developmental social play, reading, pre-writing, sensory development, music, laptops, outdoor games, and fine motor activities
"The Kinder Start program is designed to give pre-schoolers an experience of what they can expect schooling life to be like.
"They will discover some of the exceptional learning spaces that we have at Forbes Public School," he said.
"The program also gives the students the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the staff that will begin their exciting primary school journey," Mr Avis said.
St Laurence's Parish School has welcomed 44 preschool students into their Connecting Kinders program this term.
The program will be run for 4 sessions over 4 weeks
The students are participating in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities over four sessions over five weeks in term four.
Outdoor activities include ball games, hoop skills, skipping ropes and circuits. Indoor activities include activities such as bead threading, cutting out shapes, painting, drawing, play dough modelling, puzzles, imaginative play, building activities and listening and responding to stories.
St Laurence's Parish School's Kylie Ryan said the Connecting Kinders is a 5 week transition program for students commencing school at St Laurence's in Kinder in 2022
"Connecting Kinders is an experience that allows the children to become more familiar with their new school environment and be exposed to some of the school routines and procedures," she said.
"We are looking forward to a positive Connecting Kinders program and continuing to build a relationship with your family and most importantly your child," Ms Ryan said.
