Unfortunately, COVID-19 restrictions have made the logistics of this year's Christmas carnival impossible but the Find it in Forbes AMAZING Christmas promotion is in full swing so make sure you pick up and correctly fill out your tickets.
"Under the current circumstances and COVID restrictions the Christmas Carnival is unable to go ahead in Templar and Rankin streets," Business Chamber president Marg Duggan explained.
With current COVID rules only double-vaccinated people can attend, and the organisers must fence off the area and man the entrances throughout the evening.
"This exclusion is not possible as within the cage area there are essential service businesses," Mrs Duggan said.
However, there are two big late-night shopping events planned, with stores open until 8pm.
They're on Thursdays - December 9 and 16 - and there will be a $500 Why Leave Town gift card winner draw each night.
From December 5, we'll see festive projections onto the Town Hall. After the success of Koala Santa, this year's story will be Ginger Bread Greetings and it will be screening through to Boxing Day.
Elf in the Shop, which drew a fantastic response from local kids last year, returns this year beginning Thursday December 9 and there are six $50 Why Leave Town cards to be won.
Some festive events will be making a comeback: Rotary Ipomoea will hold a special Christmas market at Victoria Park on Saturday, December 11.
There's a change of venue so organisers can comply with COVID-19 restrictions, which require a single entry point for check-in and proof of vaccination.
Carols by Candlelight lights up the night that evening, 7pm to 10pm.
