Forbes Shire Council has recently launched its iRecycle Forbes waste App, allowing locals to track bin collection days, check what waste goes in which bin and have handy reminders sent straight to a smart phone.

"The Council is sure the iRecycle Forbes App will provide a 'one stop shop' for all waste information, that is easily accessible for residents and will enable people to set bin reminders and receive real-time updates of any service changes or delays," Forbes Shire Council's General Manger, Steve Loane, said.

"I personally experienced this service when I was visiting the coast earlier this year and found it so useful to have this information available through an app."

"We all live busy lives and this app will ensure the bins go out on the correct day.

"By digitising our waste information, we're able to provide our residents with a range of new features to improve our service such as tailored information for each individual property and real-time service updates," Mr Loane said.

"The app will make it easier for residents to notify Council of missed bins or damaged bins and will notify users of the app of upcoming waste events planned by our waste team," he said.

The A to Z recycling guide identifies which items can be recycled through kerbside pick-up or if it needs to go to the Community Recycling Centre or if it needs to go to the Bulky Waste clean-ups.

"You are even able to search an item as well," Mr Loane said.

"Council strives to improve resource recovery across the Shire, and we wanted to provide the community with access to a tool that made waste disposal and recycling easier for residents to know what should and shouldn't go in particular bins."

For locals who prefer the hard copy calendar, this can be downloaded from Council's website and printed. Additional assistance will also be provided for those residents who don't have access to smart technology.

The iRecycle Forbes App is available to download, free, to all Apple and Android smart devices. For more information on the app or local waste and recycling services, visit Forbes Shire Council's website at https://www.forbes.nsw.gov.au/residents/waste-and-recycling
