Forbes High School's leaders for the upcoming year have been named, and the COVID-enforced disruptions of the past two years have only served to galvanise and energise them as they look to the future.
School captains Ben Barnard and Emily Gartner, and vice captains Rachel Todd and Blake Bray, have big plans for their final year at the school.
They're keen to grow their connection with and profile within the community; they're an active student group who have identified they can now extend their reach through social media to a much broader audience including former students.
Each of the captains and vice captains has a solid history of service and involvement through their time at Forbes High - and a broad range of interests.
Ben, a keen waterskiier and motorbike rider often busy on the family farm, has been on the Student Representative Council since Year 7.
He enjoys the role and the opportunities it brings to help raise funds to help others, to raise awareness of different issues or causes.
Emily, who you'll also often find at work on the family farm, also loves working with the SRC to help the school and community.
"There are lots of different things we have done," she said, with one of the highlights for their cohort the school discos.
For Blake, a sporting all-rounder and the school DJ, being able to support others and raise funds has kept him involved in the SRC for a number of years now.
Rachel, who's a member of the Town Band who enjoys cooking and sport, has also been heavily involved in fundraising and school events.
The four say their year group has gone through the disruptions of COVID during their Year 10 and Year 11 studies, and they've come through strong and connected.
They're now looking forward to bringing back and growing events they've missed due to COVID - with White Ribbon at the front of everyone's minds at this time of year - as well as expanding their reach into the community.
The cohort launched a fundraiser drive in response to flooding last week, and year advisor Georgie Price admired the way the entire year group worked together from the pre-baking to the breakfast and right through the day.
They're a diverse group, she says, who have come through everything the recent past has dealt them with clear goals.
We look forward to seeing what you achieve in 2022 and beyond!
