It's just the second time on the Bureau of Meteorology's local records that that has happened; the last was 1950.
With a storm that dropped 12mm at the airport last Wednesday afternoon, the rainfall for 2021 surpassed the 944mm recorded in 2010.
The airport rainfall tally for Forbes - from the Bureau of Meteorology website - now stands at 1008.8mm to the end of November 30. That's more than 40 inches of rain for the year with a month to go.
That only leaves the 1130mm or more than 45 inches recorded at the Camp Street Bridge, where records date back to 1876 on the BOM website, as a wetter year on the books.
Just two other years - 1956 and 1973 - have seen more than 900mm or 36 inches on the record books.
November 2021 now also stands as the wettest November we have had, with a total 172.6mm surpassing November 2010 when we had 136.6mm of rain.
In 2021 we've had five months where the airport has recorded more than four inches of rain, with several of those stacked at the start of the year:
- January (144mm),
- February (106mm) and
- March (187mm), followed by another more than four inches in
- June (117m).
