The council elected after the shire went to the polls on December 4 sees the return of five of our incumbent councillors - Phyllis Miller, Chris Roylance, Steve Karaitiana, Jenny Webb and Michele Herbert; a previous councillor Brian Mattiske; and new faces Maria Willis, Marg Duggan and Aidan Clarke.
They gathered in the Forbes Shire Council chambers for the first time on Wednesday, December 22, where each was invited to take their oath or affirmation of office.
Cr Miller was then elected mayor - uncontested - followed by a confidential ballot for deputy mayor between councillors Roylance and Webb.
"I get very emotional every time I am elected as Mayor because you all know how much I love my town: Forbes is my forever home," the newly-elected mayor said.
"To have such a brilliant array of councillors to work with ... I'm very proud that the community has elected each and every one of you.
"I just want to say thank you so very much for your support."
The mayor also announced in her address that General Manager Steve Loane had renewed his contract for another five years.
She also introduced the council's senior staff and was full of praise for their work.
