Acting Director Planning and Growth at Forbes Shire Council Mat Teale says that Council needs to hear from as many people in the community as possible, to ensure the future plan and direction is for everyone.
"Whatever your housing situation we need to hear your perspective to assist our future planning, be you an owner or renter or even a prospective resident" Mr Teale says, "and we are making sure that we've allowed plenty of time for this to happen, with an extension of this survey.
"As an added bonus we are offering five $50 Why leave Town Cards as lucky door prizes to those who complete the survey.
"What a bonus - tell us what you think and potentially be rewarded for your trouble!"
The survey can be accessed via the council's website Home | Forbes Shire Council (nsw.gov.au) but can also be printed out at council offices for those with technology or internet access issues.
The survey closes on February 20, 2022.
In a video shared to the council's Facebook page, Mr Teale said that the strategy would ensure appropriate planning for housing growth.
"These are things including affordability of housing, access to rental properties and the provision of social housing: these have all come through in the past as being very strong, important themes for us to consider," he said.
"We want to get it right.
"Forbes is expecting some really significant growth in the next 10 years so again this is a really important reason why we need to plan well now to accommodate that rapid expansion over the next 10 years."
The yoursay website says the survey seeks to find out what types of housing are in demand, such as smaller units or flats, and that information gathered will help council work with businesses and support services such as childcare to meet the community's needs.
