Forbes Shire Council is to rebuild the store that was home to Spotlight, Forbes Mayor Phyllis Miller has announced in a video post to the council Facebook page.

"We have successfully had our insurance claim approved," she said in the video shared May 5.
"We will be rebuilding the old Spotlight store."
Mayor Miller said there had not been a commitment from Spotlight at the time, but highlighted that Forbes remained a central place for shoppers from a wide area.
"We have not lost sight of being a retail hub," she said.
"We have a population of 65,000 that come to Forbes to shop so it's terribly important that we not take our eye off the ball.
"Council is doing everything in its power to not only have kept Spotlight but also to get other other retailers."
The premises at the Forbes Homemakers Centre suffered significant damage in a fire that started during trade hours on March 7.
Shoppers and staff were evacuated safely.
