2025 NAPLAN is just in, and St Raphael’s Catholic School is delighted with the results, which show substantial achievement across all assessed areas and year levels. The data highlights the school’s continued commitment to academic excellence and the strength of its teaching and learning programs.
Students from Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 demonstrated significant improvements in reading, numeracy, spelling, grammar and punctuation and writing with a growing number of students achieving in the "strong" and "exceeding" proficiency bands. Particularly impressive were the results from the Year 7 cohort, where notable achievement was observed across all areas. This reflects not only the quality of the teaching at the St Raphael's secondary level but also the exceptional preparation undertaken by primary educators.
Principal Michelle Deschamps was thrilled to receive this year's results, and said they are a reflection of St Raphael’s whole-of-school approach to continuous learning. “Our teachers are dedicated to refining their programs and using data to drive improvement. These results are a testament to their adaptability and expertise,” she said.
The latest NAPLAN results are just another example of the upward trend in learning that St Raph’s has witnessed over the last 3 years. Last year's 2024 HSC results demonstrated outstanding learning achievements across the board with our graduating Year 12 students achieving some of the highest results in the school’s history, in addition to an unprecedented number of Distinguished Achievers.
The school’s K-12 focus on early intervention, targeted support and personalised learning strategies is proving highly effective. Staff work collaboratively with St Raphael’s Leader of Teaching and Learning, Literacy Lead Teacher and KLA Coordinators to ensure students are not only meeting national benchmarks but are confident, capable learners well-prepared for the future.

Preparing students for the later stages of Secondary starts early, and the Primary Curriculum Reform that’s been undertaken over the past several years is already making a positive impact on student learning across all Primary subjects. This is particularly evident in the key areas of literacy and numeracy, and the NAPLAN results achieved in our Year 3 and Year 5 cohorts places them comfortably on the upward trajectory expected to continue over the coming years.
St Raphael’s Catholic School remains committed to providing an enriching and challenging academic environment. These exceptional results affirm the strength of the school’s culture of learning, collaboration and high expectation, and of the bright future that lies ahead for its students.
Individual Student NAPLAN results will be delivered to the school shortly, and distributed to families in Term 3.
