Johnny Woods Crossing has closed to traffic during work hours this week as Forbes Shire Council continues works that form part of the Lake Activation Plan.
The council is undertaking:
Culvert extensions with an enhanced weir gate;
Construction of a footpath on the eastern side; and
Enhanced landscaping.

The low road across the lake will reopen outside of the crew's working hours, and pedestrian access on the western side of the crossing will remain unaffected, the council advised through social media.
Further down the lake near the Forbes Sports and Recreation Club long-awaited repairs to Bates Bridge are under way.
The hand rail on the bridge was badly damaged in the floods of late 2022.
Works, expected to take two weeks, started last Wednesday 30 April.
The bridge is also closed to traffic during work hours.
The repairs are funded under the NSW Natural Disaster Essential Public Asset Restoration Program.
