The Easter weekend has been a testing one for families and emergency services, with the death of a driver following a single-vehicle crash in the state’s Central West.
Emergency services were called to Canowindra Road, 15km north of Canowindra, about 7:45am today (Sunday 20 April 2025), following reports of the crash.
Officers attached to Chifley Police District attended and found a Toyota had left the roadway, crashed and caught fire.
Rural Fire Service NSW officers extinguished the fire however the driver died at the scene. The person is yet to be formally identified.
A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash commenced.
