Generations carry reenactment tradition on

Monday marked 160 years since the death of Ben Hall but the week has shown the legend of the bushranging era lives on.

Canowindra's successful balloon challenge returned on the weekend and reenactment of the Escort Rock gold robbery and Canowindra hotel siege were a feature.

The horses, the costumes and the Cobb and Co coach captured the crowd's attention.

Leading the way as Hall was Matt Rice, who is the third generation of his family to be involved in the reenactment.

Hall was 27 years old when he was shot by troopers on a property near Forbes.

The town is this week hosting a performance of The Trial of Ben Hall, a 1986 play written by then Forbes solicitor Dominic Williams.

The play booked out within 24 hours of tickets being offered.
