Get your entries ready, show season’s here

Show season is just about to begin with Bedgerabong Show just two weeks away and it's time to plan and prepare those entries.

Have you crafted a fire bucket?

Is your dog good at jumping heights?

Perhaps you've finished a quilt, taken a great photograph or been perfecting your cookie decorating?

Now's the time to polish up those projects, because "the best little show in the west" is on Saturday, 16 August and every entry contributes to the success of this great community event.

The show schedule is available through the Bedgerabong Show facebook page, says secretary Anne Earney, with entries to be accepted at the showground on Friday, 15 August and first thing Saturday morning.

With a solid base as an agricultural show, Bedgerabong returns with sheep, pigs, poultry and cattle competitions this year.

Young judges from across the region return as the show hosts the Group 10 finals for the Merino Sheep and Meat Sheep young judging competitions.

Bedgerabong is promising to be an outstanding equestrian event, with three rings for hack events and two for showjumping.

Planning for three days of showjumping is under way, with Showjumping in the Lachlan Valley to run across Bedgerabong and Condobolin over six big event days in August.

There's excellent interest in this event as it offers the opportunity for up-and-coming horses to compete over three rounds, Bedgerabong hosting two showjumping rings Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

This country show is known for its family friendly atmosphere and entertainment and this year that continues with duck races and a jumping castle, a bucking bull and shows by Dane the Magician.

All details are available, with links to the schedule being posted, through the Bedgerabong Show facebook page.

Pavilion tickets will be available from the Forbes Handicraft Centre, with a printed copy of the relevant sections for entrants to look at.

This year's theme is "birds and feathers" and the show society looks forward to seeing everyone's inspired photography, arts and crafts.

Entries will be accepted at the showground on Friday and early Saturday morning.

Fire buckets are to be delivered to the bar area, and will be put to good use through the afternoon.
