Fresh from a bye, Forbes Magpies are ready to meet Dubbo Macquarie at Spooner Oval this Sunday, 13 July.
A narrow loss to Mudgee Dragons in Round 10 has actually shown our Peter McDonald Premiership squad what they’re capable of, captain Nick Greenhalgh said as the side returned to training this week.
“We played very, very well we were just beaten by maybe a better team in the second half,” Greenhalgh said of the 30-26 loss.
“We maybe weren’t at our best in the second half, which was a little bit disappointing, but it sort of felt more like a win than a decent loss.
“The boys were in high spirits after that game and know what we’re capable of especially against a very quality Mudgee side.”

They’d made some “tweaks” to the side with Mitchell Andrews coming to the centre, Zeke Hartwig going to the wing and Jordan Hartwig coming off the bench to play hooker.
“I think (those tweaks) benefitted us and the style we play really well,” Greenhalgh said.
Dubbo Macquarie has everything to play for this weekend: they’re sitting in eighth on the first grade ladder heading into the final five rounds.
“We’re going to have to be on our game,” Greenhalgh said.
“We’re playing at home and we haven’t lost at home this year so we’re hoping to repeat those performances at home on Sunday.”
League tag kicks off at 10.30am Sunday, with Under 18s, reserves to follow and first grade estimated to kick off at 2pm.
