MINOR PAIRS FINALS
Ben Parslow and Dale Scott were crowned the 2025 Minor Pairs Champions on Saturday winning the game 21-16 against Clint Hurford and Brett Davenport.
With both teams recent game performance, this was not a game you could pick the winners from the start. Starting out the game it was much the muchness with 5 all on 5. Ben and Dale took the next 4 ends to hit the lead 11-6 on 11.
Clint and Brett were not throwing in the towel yet as there was still 10 ends to catch up. Ben and Dale picked up two 3’s to increase the lead 17-7, Clint and Brett answered adding 8 points to their score to only trail by 2 on 18. The game was still anyones at this point but it was Bn and Dale picking up multiples to win overall.

Latest Stories
Our Major triples are coming along swimmingly and our weekend of triples kicked off on Friday.
Bobby Grant leading for Scott McKellar and Lyall Strudwick proved he is still as cool as a cucumber under pressure when they played John Cutler, Jeff Nicholson and Greg Gunn.
The game card shows a 1 sided game to team Strudwick for the first 10 ends. The scoreboard did not reflect the game played as Team Gunn gave it their all but needed to achieve multiple shots to catch up trailing 2-12.
Dropping a 4 on the 14th certainly catapulted Team Strudwick to a comfortable lead 16-6 and they never took their foot off the accelerator and put the pedal to the metal to the finish line. Overall score 21-14 Team Strudwick.
Our second major triples game was played on Sunday morning between Clint Hurford, Pooch Dukes and Skip Mitch Andrews drawing Terry Molloy, Jax Murphy and Kerry Roach. Team Roach going into the game as the underdogs gave 3 our regular A players a run for their money and made them work for every point.
Jax Murphy not only playing his first Major Championship game also celebrated his 11th Birthday and played outstanding bowls to match his opposite Pooch Dukes. The battle didn’t stop there, Mitch Andrews being on point as usual, but Kerry answered with every bowl.
The board said 16-10 on 12 for Team Andrews until Team Roach levelled the board on 16 to 17 all.
Team Andrews had to pull out all the stops and took the next 5 ends to lead 27-17. Team Roach picked up another 3 points but couldn’t catch Team Andrews 33-20 the overall score.
REGIONAL – Forbes Sports and Rec Club hosted the Midwestern Region Open Triples on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, we couldn’t turn on the same weather that we had on Friday afternoon but the players are well seasoned and battled through.
First game was Caragabal vs Molong. Great bowls right throughout the game but the Molong team were too strong in the end winning the game to advance to the afternoon games against Parkes Bowling and Sports Club.
This was a much tighter game with an overall 5 margin, Parkes Bowling and Sports Club won and will now move through to Regionals.

Triples was the last where John Baass, Phil Hocking and Billy Cowell won 14-7 over Terry Molloy, Geoff Coles and Sue White in 15 (there we go again an uneven end finish).

THURSDAY BOWLS – Only 8 die hard or maybe silly players took to the greens on Thursday afternoon. The laughter and banter made up for the cold winds that went straight through every layer.
Phil Hocking and Terry Molloy played David Knox (who has only just returned to bowls after 18 years) and Billy Cowell. 4 all on 4, 12 all on 14.
Phil and Terry, although they only gained 1’s, led 17-12 on 18. David and Billy won the last two ends but couldn’t quite match Phil and Terry who won the game 17-15.
Ange Dwyer and Tara Shaw drew Dale Maynard and Ron Thurlow. Dale and Ron led the game all the way to the 12th.
