Police arrest man, 28, over vehicle theft

A vehicle reported stolen last week has been recovered and charges laid in connection.

It's alleged a 28-year-old male was driving the vehicle, with false or wrong number plates, when he was stopped by police on Wyndham Avenue on Friday morning.

The driver was arrested and charges laid including possess ammunition, possess offensive implement and possess knife.

He was also charged in relation to the theft of the vehicle and the false number plates, and driving while unlicensed, Forbes police said.

The man is to face Forbes court in June with police still to interview another occupant of the vehicle.

Police are investigating the theft of a vehicle on Sunday night that was found burnt out.

Emergency services received a call about the vehicle, burnt out on the Bogan Way, about 1am on Monday 5 May.

When they contacted the owner they alerted them to the fact the vehicle had been stolen some time after 6pm on Sunday 6 May.
