There’s been plenty of growth - and excitement - in the St Raphael’s school garden this year, with students proudly reaping the rewards of their hard work and care.
The Garden Club has recommenced under the guidance of Mrs McNamara, meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a team of enthusiastic green thumbs eager to get their hands dirty.
Most recently, the group celebrated its first harvest for the year, gathering lush bunches of spinach, silver beet and broccolini.
Some of the fresh produce made its way into a delicious spinach pie that Mrs Mac kindly whipped up for the students to sample, with plenty of taste-testers giving it a thumbs up!
The school entered its homegrown spinach and broccolini in the Cowra Show and came out winners for both!

Year 11 Primary Industries learn what it takes in ag
During our visit to Hutcheon & Pearce, we had the opportunity to speak with Felicity and Carel.
They shared valuable insights into the company’s expectations for future employees and emphasized the importance of strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
We discovered that Hutcheon and Pearce have a wide range of roles throughout the company from being in admin to a mechanic employing over 500 people.
We were highly inspired by the conversation with Carel about his Big Boss Arron Hutcheon.
Carel’s beginnings with the company showed he matched all the company's expectations.
It was amazing that he left his own country of Zambia to follow his now Australian wife Jess and with almost nothing to his name has worked his way up to Branch Manager of both the Orange and Cowra dealerships.
Arron Hutcheon's story was equally inspiring and showed the advantage you have by working your way to the top rather than starting there. By having experience in all the sectors you know their inner workings.
This allows you to make well informed calculated decisions because you know how it affects their workings and the people working for you.
Arron has met and knows the name of all of his employees and remember that is more than 500 people.
We will definitely use this advice when we do our Primary Industries work placements.
