I was fortunate to be able to attend the National Keep Australia Beautiful National Tidy Towns Sustainability Awards last weekend in Beechworth.
I made a presentation on Schools Eco Day.
It was also an opportunity to highlight the amazing workshop providers and volunteers that we have supporting events like this.

Parkes Shire was fortunate to be recognised with the Award for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaption with the Raw Water Storage Lagoon, A Highly Commended in the Heritage and Culture category for the Wiradjuri Language Group and a Special Acknowledgement in the Dame Phyllis Frost Local Hero Award category for Deb Jones.
Michal Chambers provided a presentation on the Parkes Wetland project.
It is obvious that this project has provided other inspiration for Councils.
At events of this type, we have the opportunity to hear about other amazing projects that are happening across Australia and bring back ideas for our communities.
A massive acknowledgement to Michael Chambers and Hannah Farrant-Jayet for the work that was put in behind the scenes with our application.
Thank you to everyone for the responses we have received to our Homegrown Parkes survey.
We have some fabulous prizes for three respondents to our community survey.
A beautiful mosaic piece of art from SMM Mosaics and two gift packs including goodies from Tumbling Downs Olives.

Our stallholder survey has also been distributed.
Both of the surveys close on Saturday, 10 May at 5pm.
We try to factor in your suggestions moving forward, particularly around demonstrations, workshops, educational opportunities and stallholder suggestions.
Information from these surveys is also used when applying for grants to support future events.
We have already commenced planning our October event.
We will be holding our next event in conjunction with the NSW Keep Australia Beautiful Tidy Towns Awards, on Saturday, 11 October and look forward to sharing those details with you shortly.
