President of the Forbes Rodeo committee, Shaun Read said he is thrilled with the support from the Forbes Services Memorial Club this year and said he hopes the partnership will continue into the future.
“They’ve taken on naming rights for this year, so it’ll be the Forbes Services Memorial Club Rodeo,” he said. “They’re looking to keep it up in the future, so we’re hoping it won’t be a one-off thing.”
General manager of the Forbes Services Memorial Club, David Fitzgerald said he is looking forward to working with the rodeo committee.
“This is our inaugural year with the Forbes Rodeo and based on the previous year’s success we thought it necessary to get on board to assist the committee where possible,” he said. “We’re a community-minded club and this will be a great community-orientated event.”
Mr Read said the 2015 Forbes Rodeo is in full swing.
“We’ve sent out a heap of sponsorship proposals and they’re starting to come back now,” he said.
“If there’s anyone we’ve missed or anyone that would like to be a sponsor, let us know.”
The Forbes Services Memorial Club Rodeo will be held on Saturday, March 21, which Mr Read said should hopefully be kind, weather-wise.
“At the end of March it’s starting to get a bit cooler for the crowd...autumn is the best time for it,” he said.
Mr Read expects they will get a lot more visitors from out of town this year following the success of last year’s event.
The program is set to be even bigger than last year with more in the line up including more rough stock events such as bull and bronc riding.
“We’re also adding novice, bull, bronc and bareback to the program and an extra event is the junior breakaway roping,” Mr Read said.
Another highlight this year will be the comedy clown, who was unable to attend last year because the rodeo was postponed due to wet weather.
