Forbes Ex Services Memorial Club has provided a community grant of $1000 for the program, which will start in March.
Coach Doug McKenzie says it’s a great opportunity for girls to get started in a safe playing environment as well as for 2016 players to improve their skills and confidence and have fun.
The club’s target is to double the number of girls playing soccer in 2017.
Forbes has a couple of top-level coaches, with Doug McKenzie and Johnny Kuntze just invited to coach the under 15s Country NSW girls team at the national championships.
The side had wins against Canberra and Queensland Country on their path to the quarter finals where they lost 1-0 to Brisbane Metro.
Young girls also have tremendous role models in Forbes with Stephanie Behan, NSW Country Representative player, and Tash Hodges, Lachlan United Representative player to work and play with.
To find out more, follow Forbes and District Soccer Club Incorporated on Facebook. Participation in the program will be promoted when kids return to school in February 2017 and will be free.
Registration to play with the Forbes Soccer Club in 2017 will be $100 per child for 4-11 years which includes a training ball for all new players. Registration is on March 4 and 18.
The club’s Gala Day will be on Sunday June 25, with a Western NSW Miniroos girls only gala day sponsored by Northparkes Mines on Sunday June 18.
