The Forbes Netball Association is so very lucky to have outstanding teenagers who give up their time and volunteer to work with the committee, to benefit the FNA family.
Netball in Forbes is not just about playing a sport, exercise and having fun. It is also about working together, and volunteering.
The Forbes Netball committee give teenagers the opportunity to work with adults, and committees. It is often the first experience given to our teenagers, to start to experience life outside school.
The Rotary Club Award for teenagers is to recognise and say thank you to these wonderful teenagers, who have worked and volunteered with the committee over the past year.
The winner of this award in 2017 is Tasha Shaw.
Tasha is a year 12 student at Forbes High School.
Tasha is a quiet achiever, but her presence is always noticed.
She sets an outstanding example to all the players, no matter what age.
Tasha was the assistant coach to the 12 year representative team 2017, who competed in division 3 of Netball NSW State Age Championships.
Tasha took on a huge, responsible and demanding role as representative assistant coach, and was always reliable and consistent, and she always displayed outstanding sportsmanship.
Tasha always attended training sessions twice each week, regional carnivals on Sundays and State Age Championships, and when coach Lyn was sick, would coach the team on her own.
Tasha would always be with her team, encouraging and coaching the young players, and sharing her outstanding knowledge of the game.
Tasha gained her National C umpires badge when she was 13, and then had a break, and has come back to help the committee with her umpiring this year.
She helped with a great deal of umpiring at the regional carnivals, and umpires each week in the night competitions.
Tasha plays in the night competitions, and is a vital member of the FNA open representative team, who competed in the West/Central West Regional League earlier in the year.
Tasha is a player everyone can look up to as an outstanding role model. Her standard of coaching and playing are far above her young age of 18.
