The Forbes rugby union team went down 33-27 against Dubbo Roos at Grinsted Oval on Saturday.
The visitors opened their account early and broke through for three subsequent tries before Forbes gathered up a loose ball and pushed through to score.
At half time the Platypi trailed 22-10. They clawed their way back in the second half, but an 80 metre try to Dubbo gave the visitors the advantage.
“Last week it was just a couple of key moments that destroyed us,” first grade manager Phil Prior reflected.
“We have just got to clean up our yard overall, have a little bit more concentration across the 80 minutes.”
Concentration and communication will be key as the Platypi look to this week’s away game against Orange City.
“We still have a few players down injured and with rep,” Prior said. ”But Charlie French is back this week, plus Simon Uphill (at five eighth).”
There’s a question over whether star halfback Mahe Fangupo will make his return after injury: he felt good after Tuesday’s training session but Prior doesn’t want to take any risks.
Ed Thomas stepped in to Fangupo’s shoes and “had a wow of a game” last Saturday.
Cameron Bennetts was named player’s player and Prior described his performance as “outstanding”.
