The College's Year 11 students headed out to local schools, retirement homes, op shops and Meals on Wheels.
"The day was simply about giving up the concept of 'self' and serving others without anything expected in return," Red Bend's Director of Faith Formation Matthew Pearce said.
"We also had students participate in our College 'Outreach' program helping with gardening jobs around various homes and the St Laurence's Parish Centre."
And the students spoke highly of their experiences.
"If you ever get a chance to just spend some time with people in retirement villages, just sit and listen to their stories," Tyrone Murda wrote.
"You don't have to raise money or buy them anything. You can simply give of your time. This time will change you.
"The highlight for me when serving at Catholic Care Jemalong Retirement Village was having happy-hour at 2 o'clock. There was a live music band, relaxing, singing along and meeting people."
For Bridie Lindsay, the highlight was the stories the 3/4 class began to share with her as she listened and spent time with them.
"The kids were fun to be around and made me feel like one of them," she said.
"I would definitely recommend serving at St Laurence's because it allows you to give back to the community, whilst giving back to yourself."
Mr Pearce said huge thanks must go to the organisations which included St Vincent de Paul, Jemalong Retirement Village, Niola Nursing Home, Holy Family School Parkes, St Laurence's School Forbes, St Joseph's School Eugowra, Forbes Preschool, Forbes Schools as Communities Centre, Royal Far West, Meals on Wheels and Anglicare's Georgie's Boutique.
He also thanked the staff involved: Brad Flick, Pat Penning, Br Bernie and John Haskell.
"Special thanks must go to the organisations and their amazing staff and volunteers who have shown our students what being a good Christian and a good citizen is all about," Mr Pearce said.
"We once again received consistent feedback from the organisations noting how exceptional our students were!
"Our hope is that you all will go out and serve. It doesn't matter if you are young or not so young. If you try something and don't find it rewarding, try something else."
