And things are looking good.
Cameron Greenhalgh returns as first grade coach and is looking forward to fielding a squad of local talent in the new year.
There will be more news on that to come in future editions, but we can say that a number of players have already signed up.
Many of our senior squad members are keen to return, along with some of the Fijians we've had previous connections with, and maybe even some of our former Forbes juniors.
In the other grades, one of our former captain coaches Brad McMillan takes on leadership of the reigning premiers, Under 18s.
Damian Kennedy will coach reserve grade and Kristy Hartwig, who guided the league tag side to their first grand final in 2019, returns to coach the women's team.
Pre-season training will get under way early in the new year and the club will be welcoming interested players to come along to training then.
Trial games kick off in March, with the Magpies looking to participate in the West Wyalong knock-out as a first hit-out.
While the players are enjoying the off-season, the club also hosted its AGM and elected its committee for the new year.
Matt Coleman returns to the president's role with a mostly familiar crew (pictured left) of Pete Cook, Ben Scott, Matty Jack, Jenny Hocking, Matthew Toohey and Matt Coleman.
They're settling in for a busy off-season.
It all starts with their Christmas function on December 15: they're hosting a golf ambrose followed by yabby races.
It's $35 a head and there's a barbecue breakfast and lunch, as well as a courtesy bus to and from the Post Office Hotel.
"If you haven't organised your Christmas party, that would be a great day to make it," Coleman said.
You're also encouraged to start looking out for their raffle ticket sellers. The club's major prize for 2020 is a boat and motor, with boat trailer and camping gear.
