After a month of itchiness and discomfort, four members of the NSW Rural Fire Service Mid Lachlan Valley Team were never so happy to see the end of a razor, shaving their moustaches for Movember earlier today.

Together, superintendent of the MLVT Ken Neville, as well as firefighters Troy Porter, Mike Browne and Mike Fraturro raised $800 for the charity which is committed to men’s health.
Mike Fratturo and Mike Browne were a little more reluctant than the others to lose their mo’s, with a combination of 70 years of growth between them.
Mike Fratturo had fashioned his moustache over 32 years, and said he would only go under the razor if the MLVT raised over $300 - which immediately boosted donations to the team.
This was the first time the MLVT had participated in Movember and superintendent Ken Neville said it seemed like a good charity for the station to support.
“We just saw the opportunity to raise some money for men’s health,” Mr Neville said.
“It’s turned out to be the biggest fundraiser we’ve done for a while.”
NSW RFS are currently ranked 44th in the Movember Australia challenge, having raised $14,913 as of yesterday.
The Movember Foundation is the world’s leading men’s health organisation, committed to changing the face of men’s health in the areas of prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health.
Since 2003, Movember has raised $580 million to fund more than 800 men’s health programs worldwide.
