Dancing with the Stars of Forbes dancers confirmed

Ten couples, 20 stars, will be taken out of their comfort zones and will come together in a dancing spectacular at Forbes Services Memorial Club on Saturday, November 5, all to raise much-needed funds for Forbes CanAssist.

The dancers met for the first time last week and were introduced to their partners and assigned a style of dance to perform on the night.

To keep things interesting, most of the dances are different to last year’s. They include the tango, Charleston, Spanish Flamenco, Rock ‘n’ Roll, 80s freestyle, ballroom dance, ballet, modern contemporary, Bollywood and a mash-up dance.

On the night the couples will be critiqued and scored by a panel of judges, with the winning couple to receive a coveted disco ball trophy.

There will also be a people’s choice award, decided based on which couple can collect the most money in five minutes.

The people and businesses of Forbes jumped on board to support last year’s event and organisers Terese Gunn and Cassandra Tyack are hoping everyone will be just as generous this year.

There are a number of sponsorship packages available – you or your business can sponsor a dancer for $200 which includes your name on their back, advertising in the Forbes Advocate and on the Dancing with the Stars of Forbes Facebook page, as well as announcements on the night. Event sponsorship is available for $100 which includes advertising in the Advocate, on Facebook and on the night.

Businesses and/or individuals are also welcome to donate goods for the auction.

There will also be a raffle and lucky door prizes up for grabs, plus more entertainment this year.

All money raised on the night and through ticket sales will go directly to CanAssist Forbes. Last year a whopping $34,000 was raised.

The identity of the 20 stars remains a mystery for now, however organisers may release hints as the event gets closer, so stay tuned. Can you guess who they are?
