The fire, in plastics, produced a very visible black smoke but Forbes Fire and Rescue captain Brian Clarke said the team worked quickly to contain it.
Ambulance officers were in attendance and police did alert businesses down wind of the potential that toxic smoke could drift their way.
Fire fighters were able to prevent the fire spreading to an adjacent stack of wooden pallets.
Mr Clarke said it was fortunate that the fire occurred in an open industrial area as the smoke produced would have been toxic.
Fire fighters wore full breathing apparatus as they worked to contain and then fully extinguish the blaze.
