Amanda Turnbull was driving four-year-old gelding Our Wall Street Wolf for Perthville trainer Chris Frisby.
Our Wall Street Wolf had placed in his last two starts before Wednesday’s meet – running second at Young then third at West Wyalong.
Officials were very pleased with attendance at their Anzac Day meeting on Wednesday, with the good weather bringing out one of the largest crowds in recent seasons.
The day was well supported by connections of those who the day’s memorial races are held in honour of: Neville Pellow, Colin Ware, Pud Woods, Clarrie and Val Robb and also for Les Findlay, with connections with the major sponsor Forbes Services Club and Forbes RSL Sub-Branch.
The main supporting races were the heats of the Forbes Services Club CO/C1, with the final to be conducted on Sunday May 6.
These races were dominated by the Turnbull clan, with Jason Turnbull winning with Walk On Kimmy, then Amanda Turnbull scoring with Ellmers Image and Nathan Turnbull scoring a very impressive win with Freddy Funk.
Freddy Funk will probably start as a favourite in the final after scoring one of the biggest winning margins seen at Forbes in a long while.
Nathan Turnbull won with Freddy Funk by 40m in a class track record time of 1:58:7 mile rate.
Ellmers Image also raced well, having trialled well leading into this race, which is his first since coming across from New Zealand.
Amanda had no hesitation in sending him forward early in the race to sit outside of the leader and she seemed to clear him in the stable before a strong finish from Loxley.
Loxley, driven by Mark Hewitt came from a mile back with half a lap to go, to fail by a metre to catch the winner.
The other heat winner was Walk On Kimmy who scored a tradesman like all the way win without capturing the attention of the other two heat winners.
Walk On Kimmy will more than likely draw a more favourable barrier than the other two horses for the final.
The locals, although not scoring on the day would be more than pleased with their efforts.
Matthew and Terry Robb’s horse Crazy In Love qualified for the Forbes Services Club final with a late closing third behind Walk On Kimmy.
They also secured a minor placings with Parzival taking third place in the last race.
Gary Eyre’s in form pacer Karinya Mully was brave in defeat with a second placing in the Diggers Cup.
Roseculledglasses made an impressive debut for Adam Bellach’s stable with a third behind Bernie Hewitt’s winner Cobbitty Chic.
Terry Hush’s pacers Digger Shed and Chief Fairman didn’t receive the same luck on the day.
The pacers take to the track again on Sunday May 6 in Forbes’ Carnival of Cups.
