Councillors at their August meeting on Thursday voted to reintroduce an offer Council has made in previous droughts.
Rural residents in need of water to replenish dwindling tank supplies can collect it at a standpipe within the Council depot, or arrange a water carter to collect it on their behalf and at their expense.
There was some discussion about extending the offer beyond the limits of the Forbes Local Government Area, with Cr Jenny Webb advocating for rural residents whose property falls in another shire but closer to Forbes town.
In the end a narrow majority of councillors voted to limit it to Forbes Shire.
