Thursday night saw a heavy downpour in town.
While Forbes Airport only recorded 12mm, the rain in town was certainly heavier and the Advocate’s online readers contributed their home rain.
There was 41mm measured by one Farrand Street resident and 40mm in Prince Street.
A Torig Road resident measured 19mm.
Just 5mm was measured in Gaymard’s Lane and Wirrinya and Bedgerabong residents, unfortunately, reported those regions only received a light drizzle.
On Friday afternoon, the town was shrouded in dust as a cool change rolled in.
The thick blanket of dust stretched for miles with communities across the region reporting similar conditions.
The rain didn’t follow for a couple of hours, but a very welcome 18.9mm was recorded at the Airport when a thunderstorm rolled through town just on dusk.
The good news was, the storm systems ushered in some cooler conditions over the weekend.
Saturday peaked at 25.6 degrees, the first day this year we haven’t hit 30 degrees and one of only a handful of days under 35.
The temperature then dipped to a very refreshing 12.6 degrees on Sunday morning, and 12 degrees on Monday.
Unfortunately there’s no more rain forecast this week, but neither are we forecast to return to 40-plus degree temperatures.
