Although entries were down on previous years, clear, sunny conditions bolstered crowd numbers at Sunday’s down hill event.
Marketing Manager for Forbes Shire Council Sarah White said those in attendance enjoyed the hot rod display, tractors and engines display, jumping castle and food stalls.
“There really was something there for everyone,” she said.
Sunday afternoon’s Cemetery Tour was also well received with around 30 people participating in a guided walk around the grounds.
Led by Keith Rawsthorne the tour highlighted interesting facts behind some of the historic headstones and those buried beneath.
As part of the tour, participants were invited to tell stories of their relatives now long-deceased.
“I think people are genuinely interested in our history, and with the cemetery in particular there is so much of it there,” she said.
The Heritage Week program will continue tonight at 7pm with the Forbes Medal and Heritage Week Volunteer Award presentations.
Those heritage conservation works nominated for the prestigious medal include the Forbes Advocate’s 100 Years of Publication feature, the Forbes Our Town DVD, Northside Chapel, Town Hall and Forbes Shire Council Administration building, the Scout Hall, and the Uniting Church.
Nominees for the Heritage Week Volunteer Award will not be released until tonight’s presentation, Ms White said.
