Traffic lights at Epping Road near Vimiera road are blacked out.
All lanes on Epping Road have reopened, but traffic is heavy in both directions and drivers are warned to expect significant delays.
Westbound traffic was backed up three kilometres between Vimiera Road and Lane Cove Road, a spokeswoman from the Transport Management Centre said.
Drivers can use the M2 or Victoria Road as an alternative route.
Crews from NSW Fire and Rescue are working to extinguish the fires.
