Dylan Gunn and Jessica Pascoe managed to collectively haul three medals at the competition over the Australia Day weekend.
Seventeen-year-old Red Bend Catholic College student Dylan gained a silver medal in the 100m 18-19 years age event.
Battling a back injury, Dylan fell shy of his personal best time of 11.18 seconds, but his placing was enough to qualify him for the Sydney NSW Youth and Junior championships which draws competitors from right across NSW.
Competing in two middle distance events, Jessica competed in the under 20s age group and won a silver medal in the 1500m and a bronze in the 800m.
On the day of the competition, Jessica was recovering from illness and “wasn’t even expected to run”, but that didn’t stop her from gaining a national qualifying time in the 800m.
Her time of 2.19 minutes ensures her a spot in the Australian Junior Championships in Sydney this March.
While both from Forbes, Jessica and Dylan will soon take their talents further afield.
Earlier this year Jessica joined ACT Athletics as this March she will move to study at the University of Canberra.
Dylan who has been sprinting for over 10 years and has recently been coaching Forbes Little Athletics, will finish his final year at school before joining an athletics club in Wollongong, where he hopes to study next year.
