With a 90 per cent chance of rain forecast for Orange today, the Forbes Platypi could very well be playing in similar conditions to last week’s match against Narromine, but that doesn’t phase first grade coach Heamani Lavaka.

“I think the rain’s good for us,” he said, following on from last weekend’s 24-7 victory.
“We play our game plans around the rain...we already played in the weather last week.”
“Orange City are a very mobile team, that’s why this weather will help us a little bit.”
The Platypi have been training hard this week in preparation for their match against Orange City, arguably the toughest team in the competition.
“They’ve lost about two games in the last four years,” Lavaka said.
“I did have a good talk with the boys after last week to prepare them for City...after we had the talk, it is very positive.”
“We want to play smarter because of the weather and use our strength, which is our forwards. We have a lot of really good backs but they just have to be patient.”
Lavaka said the Platypi are more than up for the challenge and with a strong side lined-up to play today they are certainly in for a chance.
“We have a really good side tomorrow [today],” he said.
“We want to go over there and beat them...if we stick to what we’ve been training all week, we have a good chance,” he said.
