The first, the state government’s commitment to support the Forbes festival for the next three years through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW.
The second, that Vanfest will now feature a Friday night event prior to the one-day festival and organisers have secured heavyweight bands Rudimental and Peking Duk as performers for the night.
Both announcements will mean big things for the festival and for Forbes, with the event potentially drawing up to 15,000 people to town.
The Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said, with the state government’s commitment, Vanfest could generate over $2 million for the town in the coming years.
“Adding to an outstanding NSW calendar of summer events, Vanfest 2015 will boast an exciting line-up of national and international music acts,” Mr Ayres said.
“This event is anticipated to deliver over $2.3 million in visitor impact over the next three years, bringing positive economic benefits to the Forbes community.”
Vanfest, which will now rock the Forbes Showgrounds from December 4-5, is fast becoming the little country show that could.
Launching just last year, Vanfest saw headliners Chet Faker and Matt Corby come to the central west and this year rock legends John Butler Trio, Birds of Tokyo, and MC Illy will lead the bill.
Now with Friday night’s headline acts, organiser Matt Clifton said the festival will have a lot of appeal to a lot of people.
“We couldn’t resist the opportunity to bring two of the best live acts to Forbes, the inclusion of Rudimental and Peking Duk fulfils our dedication to bringing exceptional live entertainment to regional NSW,” organiser Matt Clifton said.
“We are excited to add a second event to Vanfest this year which we hope will attract overnight stays in the region and provide a platform to boost greater economic benefit to the local community.”
There are also already hints that even more artists will be joining the pre-festival concert line-up.
Pre-release tickets for the Friday night concert will go on sale Tuesday, September 22 for $69 and there are limited tickets available.
